USC Has Strong Final Day At the MLK Jr. Collegiate Invitational

Stewart, Jewett & Jackson win events
Brendon Stewart won the men's 60m, Isaiah Jewett the men's 400m, Jalyn Jackson the men's triple jump and Mecca McGlaston finished tops among the collegians in the women's 60m hurdles during the final day of the Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. today (Jan. 25).
- Stewart won the men's 60m dash final with a PR of 6.59. His time moved him from tied for third to third all alone on USC's all-time list in the event, breaking his tie with Andre De Grasse on the list. Stewart had a time of 6.63 in the prelims for the fastest time. Eric Allen Jr. had a PR of 6.67 to finish second in the prelims and move into an eighth-place tie on USC's all-time list. USC elected to hold him out of the finals as he had run in the qualifying round, posting a previous PR of 6.69, the fastest time among the qualifiers. Also in the prelims, Earvin da Silva had a time of 6.83 to finish ninth (just missing out on advancing) and Kenan Christon had a time of 6.87 to place 13th. Christon also posted a time of 6.90 in the qualifiers for fifth and Austin Allen had a time of 7.00 to finish 11th.
- Jewett won a close men's 400m race, winning with a time of 46.19 (.184) to the second-place finisher's time of 46.19 (.188). Jewett moved into fifth on USC's indoor 400m list. Sitting sixth on that list now is Nicholas Ramey, who finished fourth with a time of 46.60. Noah Green took seventh place with a time of 48.79.
- Jackson won the men's triple jump with a PR of 51-1.75/15.59m. His jump moved him into eighth on USC's all-time indoor triple jump list.
- McGlaston had a time of 8.14 in the women's 60m hurdles final to finish third overall, first among college runners. Finishing fifth and second among college runners was Chanel Brissett with a time of 8.16. In the prelims, McGlaston had a time of 8.18 and Brissett a time of 8.32 to qualify for the final.
- TeeTee Terry placed third in the women's 60m final, second among collegians, with a time of 7.15, just 0.01 second off her PR. Lanae-Tava Thomas finished fifth in the 60m final with a time of 7.19, also just 0.01 off her PR. In the prelims, Terry had a time of 7.22, Thomas a time of 7.43, Jazmyne Frost a time of 7.49 and Brissett a time of 7.69.
- Bailey Lear had an indoor PR of 52.75 to finish second in the women's 400m race. Her time bettered her ninth-place standing on USC's all-time list. Kaelin Roberts had a time of 53.28 to finish third, Chioma Okonkwo had a time of 56.51 to finish 14th, Breanna Bernard-Joseph a time of 57.03 to finish 16th and Jatana Folston a time of 58.31 to finish 18th.
- Karlee Freeman took third in the women's shot put with a best mark of 48-1.25/14.66. Her throw moved her to seventh on USC's all-time list.
- Chloe Berry had a time of 2:19.98 to finish 12th in the women's 800m race.
- USC's 4x400m relay team of Folston, Shante Robinson, Kenya Payne and Bernard-Joseph had a time of 3:43.62 to finish fifth.
