Trojans Win Four Events On First Day Of The MLK Collegiate Invitational

Nathan Bultman won the men's weight throw, Joy McArthur won the women's weight throw, Isaiah Jewett won the men's 600m and Earnest Sears III won the men's high jump during the first day of the Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. today (Jan. 24).
- The redshirt senior Nathan Bultman won the men's weight throw and bettered his second-place standing on USC's all-time list with a PR of 73-7.50/22.44m. His winning throw was nearly a six-foot improvement and today it edged out USC record-holder Conor McCullough, who placed second. Redshirt senior Jason Kim finished 11th with a throw of 50-0.00/15.24m.
- The junior McArthur won her first collegiate weight throw competition with a PR of 61-11.75/18.89m to move from tied for second to second all alone on USC's all-time list. The throw was a PR of four and one-half feet and bettered her opening mark of last season by more than five feet. Sophomore Karlee Freeman finished ninth with a mark of 52-10.0/16.10m. That throw moved Freeman into sixth place on USC's all-time list.
- The junior Sears III won the men's high jump with a clearance of 7-4.25/2.24m.
- Jewett, a senior, won the men's 600m with a time of 1:16.95. Sophomore Sam VanDorpe took second in the 600m with a PR of 1:19.14 and senior Matthew Myrtue finished sixth with a time of 1:21.47.
- Sophomore Alyssa Brewer took second in the women's 600m with a PR of 1:29.98. Brewer finished second by 0.14 seconds.
- Junior TeeTee Terry placed second in the women's 200m with a time of 23.55 and sophomore Bailey Lear took fourth with a PR of 23.65.
- Sophomore Brendon Stewart had a time of 21.59 to finish second in the men's 200m and freshman Nicholas Ramey had a time of 21.74 to finish 14th.
- Junior Cassidy Palka had an indoor PR of 5-8.50/1.74m to finish fourth in the women's high jump. She also moved into a second-place tie on USC's all-time indoor women's high jump list.
- Sophomore Shante Robinson had a time of 57.39 to finish seventh in the women's 400m and freshman Kenya Payne had a time of 57.61 to finish ninth.
- Sophomore Lanae-Tava Thomas had a best leap of 19-0.50/5.80m to finish sixth in the women's long jump.
- Redshirt freshman Jalyn Jackson had a jump of 24-8.25/7.52m to finish fifth in the men's long jump, while freshman Austin Allen had a best jump of 21-8.00/6.60m to place 17th.
- Senior Michael Gonzalez no-heighted in the men's pole vault.
