USC T&F Announces 2020 Recruiting Class

USC Director of Track & Field Caryl Smith Gilbert announced today (Jan. 16) the addition of five standout athletes to the 2020 class during the early signing period. Included in the new recruiting class are Ashton Allen (sprints), Kimberly Harris (sprints/jumps), Jasmine Jones (hurdles/jumps), Trey Knight (throws) and Morgan Smalls (jumps/sprints).
"We are extremely excited about the talented athletes we are bringing in for the 2020-21 school year," said Smith Gilbert. "We were able to sign people from all over the country and the most elite athletes available in the 2020 class. We are looking forward to having them in Los Angeles as a part of the Trojan family and continuing the unmatched USC track and field legacy."
ASHTON ALLEN | Sprints | Odenton, Md. | Bullis High
• Has PRs of 20.84 in the 200m and 47.43 in the 400m
• Placed second in the 200m dash with a wind-aided best time of 20.76 (+3.1) at the 2019 New Balance Nationals
• He ranks third nationally among returning high school 200m runners
• Will join his brothers Eric Jr. (Sophomore) and Austin (Freshman) on the USC track and field team.

KIMBERLY HARRIS | Sprints/Jumps | Dacula, Ga. | Buford High
• Harris has a 400m PR of 52.16 which was sixth among high school runners in 2019 and is second among returning runners
• She won the Georgia 5-A 400m title in each of her first three seasons of high school, winning the the 2019 title with a PR of 52.16
and the 200m title with a PR of 23.63
• Led her team to the 2019 Georgia state title, Buford's third straight, and was the meet's highest point scorer
• Ran for Team USA at the 2019 U20 PanAm Championships and was part of the 4x400m relay team which set the U20 world record
with a time of 3:24.04.

JASMINE JONES | Hurdles/Sprints/Jumps | Duluth, Ga. | Greater Atlanta High
• Led all high schoolers with a time of 13.19 in the 100m hurdles in 2019, went undefeated all season and posted the 4 fastest times
• Won the George state meet 100m and 300m hurdles titles in her first three seasons of high school
• She won the USATF U20 100m hurdles title with her PR of 13.19, the 13th-fastest high school time ever run in the event
• She has also posted top 10 all-time high school times in the 55m and 60m hurdles
• Her long jump PR of 20-2.25 last season ranked eighth among all high school women

• LJ – 20-2.25
TREY KNIGHT | Throws | Ridgefield, Wash. | Ridgefield High
• Led all high school hammer throwers with a mark of 256-6, more than 23 feet farther than the next farthest thrower
• He ranks third on the all-time high school hammer throw list behind Rudy Winkler and former USC athlete Conor McCullough, both
went on to become USATF outdoor champions
• He is a 4-time 2A Washington state champion in the discus and shot put

MORGAN SMALLS | Jumps/Sprints | Morrisville, N.C. | Panther Creek High
• Named the 2019 North Carolina Gatorade Track & Field Athlete of the Year
• Won the gold medal in the high jump at the 2019 New Balance Indoor Nationals with a clearance of 6-3.25, top among high school
jumpers in 2019 and second all-time. Then won the 2019 New Balance Outdoor Nationals with a clearance of 6-2.25, tops among
high school jumpers in 2019 and sixth all-time.
• Led Panther Creek to the 2019 Georgia 4-A title, winning the triple jump (40-9) and high jump (5-10) and taking second in the long
jump and 400m dash
• She had an indoor triple jump of 41-9.75 which ranked fourth among high school women
