Brissett & Cockrell Earn Individual Silver Medals At PanAm Games In Peru

Trojans earn eight medals at the PamAm Games
Chanel Brissett and Anna Cockrell both earned individual silver medals in hurdles races, Tynia Gaither won a bronze medal in the women's 200m and five Trojans won relay medals at the 2019 PanAm Games held in Lima, Peru from Aug. 6-11.
- Brissett finished second in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 12.99 (+0.1) on Aug. 8. She advanced to the finals with a time of 13.08 (+0.5), good for fourth in her heat and sixth overall on Aug. 7.
- Cockrell took second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.50 on Aug. 8. Sage Watson from Canada, the winner had a time of 55.16 and was originally disqualified, but on appeal was reinstated to win the gold. Cockrell advanced to the final by running 56.04 which was good for third in the semifinals on Aug. 6.
- Brissett and TeeTee Terry also won a bronze medal for USA's 4x100m relay team which placed third with a time of 43.49. Brissett ran the leadoff leg and Terry the second leg.
- Terry also placed fifth in the women's 100m dash final with a time of 11.37 (-0.6) on Aug. 7. She advanced to the final by running 11.59 (-1.1) to qualify seventh out of the semifinals on Aug. 6.
- Cockrell along with former USC athlete Jaide Stepter, who ran the third and second legs respectively for USA's 4x400m relay team, won a gold medal with a time of 3:26.46 on Aug. 10. Kyrah Constantine rand the third leg for Canada which won the silver medal with a time of 3:27.01.
- Constantine finished fifth in the women's 400m final with a time of 51.99 on Aug. 8. Constantine reached the final by running 52.92 good for seventh in the semifinal on Aug. 7. Stepter was disqualified in the final. She had a time of 52.17 to qualify fourth overall from the semifinals.
- USC graduate Tynia Gaither, running for the Bahamas, won a bronze medal in the women's 200m final with a time of 22.76 (-0.1) on Aug. 9. She reached the finals by running 23.06 (+0.4) in the semifinals on Aug. 8.
