The Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution’s outstanding senior male and female student-athletes
SAN FRANCISCO – Trojan beach volleyball senior All-American Terese Cannon (Pittsford, N.Y.) and men's golf senior All-American Justin Suh (San Jose, Calif.) were each named USC's female and male recipients of the 2018-19 Pac-12 Tom Hansen Conference Medal on Tuesday, June 25.
The Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution's outstanding senior male and female student-athletes based on the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics, and leadership. Conference medal winners have been named every year since the 1960-61 academic year. In 2009, the Pac-12 renamed the award the Tom Hansen Conference Medal in honor of Hansen, who retired at the end of June 2009 after serving for 26 years as Commissioner of the Pac-10.
Cannon received her master of accounting degree from USC this spring with a 3.62 grade-point average and was named a 2019 AVCA All-American after helping lead the Women of Troy to the Pac-12 title and an NCAA runner-up finish. She is a three-time conference champion and a two-time national champion. Cannon was chosen for Pac-12 All-Academic honors three times in her career and was named as part of the Pac-12's Pair of the Week three times. She finished her career as one of just eight Women of Troy with over 100 career victories and was named to the NCAA's All-Tournament team in 2017. She is a three-time honoree on the USC Dean's List, a two-time team captain, and served as a member of USC's Trojan Athletic Senate.
Suh was the 2019 Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's golf and is a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree. The business administration graduate was a four-time All-American and USC's first back-to-back first team selection (2018-19) since Jamie Lovemark (2007-08). He finished his senior season with a team-best 69.39 average, second-best in program history behind his own record (68.73), earning his third straight All-Pac-12 first team nod. Suh, a 2019 All-Nicklaus Team pick, had seven top-4 finishes in 2019 including two wins; and nine in the top 10 and finished no worse than a tie for 15th in all 12 of his starts. Suh helped lead the Trojans to a pair of NCAA top-5 finishes in 2016 and 2017 and owns USC's single-season records for wins (five), stroke average (68.73) and rounds under 70 (21). He captured USC's 22nd Pac-12 individual title in 2018 while leading the Trojans to the team crown.
