Ruffels Win Sunday Helps Internationals Defeat U.S. At Arnold Palmer Cup

Sophomore joins teammates Chang, Nam, combining to finish 6-3-3.
Sophomore Gabriela Ruffels won her singles match 2&1 and finished 2-1-1 over the weekend, helping the Internationals defeat the American side – featuring teammates Jennifer Chang and Malia Nam -- at the Arnold Palmer Cup, 33.5-26.5, on Sunday (June 9) at the Alotian Club in Roland, Ark.
The International team claimed 13 of the 24 points up for grabs during the Sunday singles matches, becoming the first visiting team to win on U.S soil since 2009. The United States leads the all-time series 12-10-1.
Overall, USC's trio finished 6-3-3 in their combined action.
In addition to her win Sunday, Ruffels earned a point in Saturday's foursomes with a win over Chang's tandem. She also halved her opening match.
Nam, a freshman, finished her play with a dominating 5&4 singles win Sunday. She also won her opening match in fourball to go with two ties.
Chang, a sophomore, won her first two matches, including a 7&5 win in mixed foursomes. She fell to Ruffels' pairing Saturday afternoon and fell 3&1 in singles.
