Anna Collier Named USMC/AVCA National Coach of the Year

The eighth-year head coach led the Women of Troy to the program’s third Pac-12 championship
LEXINGTON, Ky. – USC beach volleyball head coach Anna Collier was named the 2019 United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association National Coach of the Year on Thursday, May 9. In her eighth year at the helm for the Women of Troy, Collier was also voted the Pac-12 Coach of the Year last week.
Collier was previously chosen as the 2014 AVCA National Coach of the Year, making this her second such honor from the organization. She was also the choice for 2017 DiG Magazine National Coach of the Year.
This season, Collier led the Trojans to the program's third Pac-12 Championship and a 32-6 overall record. USC eclipsed the 30-win total for the third time in her career and finished as the NCAA runner-up in the national tournament.
USC's win over UCLA in the Pac-12 winner's semifinal was Collier's 200th as a collegiate head coach, making her the first and only coach to cross the 200-victory plateau. She is 205-38 in eight seasons at Troy and was also the first to reach 100 wins during a stretch when she guided the Women of Troy to three national championships (2015-17) including the last AVCA title and each of the first two NCAA crowns.
Under her guidance, the Trojans added four AVCA Beach All-Americans to their list of honors this spring. She has coached 20 All-America players; tied for the most of any program nationally. This spring, the Trojans were also honored with the Pac-12 Pair of the Year (Abril Bustamante and Tina Graudina); the Pac-12 Player of the Year (Graudina); and had seven student-athletes named to the All-Pac-12 teams. Collier's Women of Troy also hold the distinction of having the highest term and cumulative grade-point average among all 21 of USC's varsity sports.
