Cockrell, Myrtue & Terry Named To District 8 All-Academic Team

Juniors Anna Cockrell and Matthew Myrtue and sophomore Twanisha "TeeTee" Terry were named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® 8 Track/Cross Country Teams it was announced today (May 28). The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Track/Cross Country Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom.
Cockrell, from Charlotte, N.C., graduated in three years with a 3.98 grade-point average (GPA) in Communication with a minor in Political Science. She will be getting her Master's in Public Policy as a Dean's Merit Scholar. Cockrell won her second consecutive Pac-12 400m hurdles title with a time of 56.46 and placed second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 12.92 (+0.7). She also ran a leg on USC's conference-winning 4x400m relay which set the meet record with a time of 3:29.23. Cockrell advanced to the NCAA Championships in all three events. She set her 100m hurdles PR of 12.85 (+2.0) at the just concluded NCAA West Preliminary Rounds to better her fifth-place standing on USC's all-time list in the event. Cockrell has placed second in the 400m hurdles at the NCAA Championships in each of her first two seasons at USC, posting her PR of 55.14 in the 2017 final. That time ranks third on USC's all-time list.
Myrtue, from Covington, L.A., has a 4.0 GPA in Computer Sciences/Business Administration at USC. He has a personal-best of 1:51.87 in the 800m race and ran a season-best 1:52.12 to finish 12th at the 2019 Pac-12 Championships. He placed third in the 800m race with a time of 1:52.75 at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 28. He also set his 1500m PR of 3:53.80 in placing fifth at the Trojan Invitational on March 16.
Terry, from Miami, Fla., has a 3.81 GPA in Communication. She finished the regular season ranked No. 2 in the 100m dash with a wind-aided time of 10.99 (+2.1w) and won her second consecutive title in the event at the Pac-12 Championships with her wind-legal season best of 11.09 (+0.5). Terry also placed third in the 200m dash at the Pac-12 Championships and anchored USC's 4x100m relay which won the Pac-12 title with a time of 42.45. In the prelims at the conference meet, USC set the school record and current world-leading time of 42.44 in the 4x100m relay. Terry is the USC record-holder in the 100m dash with a time of 10.99 set last season and ranks eighth on USC's all-time 200m list. She has qualified for the NCAA Championships this season in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams announced in June.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes from eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools and other affiliations.
