Trojans Have A Strong Day At The Mt. SAC Relays & Beach Invitational

McGlaston, Morris and Shinnick win Mt. SAC events
Marquis Morris won the men's 110m hurdles, Zach Shinnick won the men's 400m dash and Mecca McGlaston won the women's 200m to lead the Trojans at the Mt. SAC Relays held at El Camino College in Torrance, Calif. today (April 19). Also today, Nathan Bultman had a season-best hammer throw to lead USC at the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Calif.
- Senior Marquis Morris won the men's collegiate 110m hurdles with a time of 13.89 (+0.1). He qualified for the finals by winning his prelim heat with a time of 14.12 (+0.7) earlier in the day.
- Sophomore Zach Shinnick won the men's collegiate 400m dash with a time of 46.38. There were eight heats and 54 total runners in the event.
- Junior Mecca McGlaston won the women's collegiate 200m dash with a PR of 23.27 (+0.7). She won the sixth and final heat and beat out the 49 runners who competed in the event.
- Freshman Brendon Stewart had a wind-legal PR of 10.40 (+0.5) to place second in the men's collegiate 100m dash finals. He reached the finals with a wind-aided best of 10.35 (+2.3w), the top qualifier. Junior Alexander Barnum finished 15th with a season-best time of 10.58 (+0.2), freshman Daniel Robinson was 17th at 10.67 (+0.2), sophomore Nick Moore was 18th with a season-best time of 10.67 (+1.4) and sophomore Earvin da Silva was 24th with a time of 10.76 (+0.3).
- Redshirt senior Alexa Harmon-Thomas had a PR clearance of 5-10.75 (1.80m) to place second in the women's collegiate high jump. Harmon-Thomas moved into 10th on USC's all-time women's high jump list. Sophomore Cassidy Palka cleared a season-best 5-7.00 (1.70m) to tie for sixth in the event.
- Junior Angie Annelus advanced to the women's collegiate 100m dash final with a season-best time of 11.28 (+0.2) and Chanel Brissett advanced with a time of 11.72 (-0.8), both winning their prelim heats. Both runners were then held out of the final for rest as they will be competing tomorrow in Mt. SAC Elite races.
- Freshman Breanna Bernard-Joseph had a season-best time of 59.79 to finish second in her heat and third overall in the women's collegiate 400m hurdles race.
- Freshman Noah Green had a PR of 52.24 to win his heat and finish third overall in the men's collegiate 400m hurdles race. Redshirt junior Jaydon Logan, making his first collegiate start for USC, finished fourth in the same heat and 13th overall with a time of 53.80. Freshman Talin Lewis took sixth in the same heat and finished 18th overall with a season-best time of 55.30.
- Robinson had a PR of 21.30 (+0.2) to win the fifth section of the men's 200m dash to finish third overall out of 49 runners. Barnum had a season-best time of 21.40 (+0.2) to place second in his 200m heat and eighth overall. Freshman Omotade Ojora won his 200m heat and placed 12th overall by matching his PR of 21.60 (+1.3), Morris won his 200m heat and placed 17th with a time of 21.82 (+1.5), Moore was fourth in his heat and 18th overall with a time of 21.83 (+0.2) and da Silva was third in his heat and 24th overall with a time of 21.95 (+2.2w).
- Redshirt senior Isabella Marten had a season-best triple jump of 43-0.25/13.11m (+0.2) to finish sixth in the Invitational competition. Marten's jump moved her from eighth to seventh on USC's all-time women's triple jump list.
- Senior Margaux Jones had a best jump of 19-6.00/5.94m (+1.8) to take sixth in the women's collegiate long jump. Freshman Lana-Tava Thomas jumped 19-2.00/5.84 (-2.3) to finish ninth.
- Freshman Sam VanDorpe had a PR of 3:51.36 to finish sixth in the men's Invitational 1500m race. Junior Matthew Myrtue had a time of 3:55.33 to place 16th and freshman John Dempsey had a time of 4:04.68 to finish 20th in the men's Invitational 1500m race.
- Freshman Nathan Patterson cleared 6-6.75 (2.00m) to finished tied for seventh in the men's collegiate high jump competition.
- Junior Chloe Berry has a time of 4:25.74, 0.45 seconds off her PR, to finish ninth in the women's Invitational 1500m race. She was the top collegiate finisher in the race. Junior Kamryn Weber had a PR of nearly 10 seconds at 4:29.87 to finish 13th overall, third among the college runners in the race.
- Senior Lauren Maurer ran a PR of 4:43.38 to take ninth in the women's collegiate 1500m race.
- Freshman Mitch Libby ran 4:01.01 to finish sixth in the men's collegiate 1500m race.
- Freshman Talin Lewis had a best jump of 21-2.50/6.46m (+0.0) to finish sixth in the men's collegiate long jump.
- Junior Kayla Richardson had a time of 55.65 in the women's collegiate 400m race to place seventh in her heat and 12th overall.
- Sophomore Jennifer Daly had a time of 2:18.89 to finish sixth in her heat and 17th overall in the women's collegiate 800m race.
- Sophomore David Hulme had a time of 1:53.75 to take fifth in his heat and 15th overall of the men's collegiate 800m race. Freshman Devin Bright had a time of 1:56.89 to finish ninth in the same 800m heat and 25th overall.
- Junior Nicolaus Jakowec closed the day's action for the Trojans by running a PR of 14:33.10 in the men's Invitational 5000m race to finish 42nd overall. Jakowec's time moved him into ninth on USC's all-time men's 5000m list.
- Redshirt junior Nathan Bultman for the second day in a row had a season best hammer throw, today landing a mark of 212-4 (64.73m) to place 11th. Yesterday, he had a throw of 210-9 at the Mt. SAC Relays.
- Sophomore Joy McArthur did not land a clean throw in the women's hammer throw competition.
- Redshirt sophomore Colette "Coco" Putnam had a best throw of 100-5 (30.61m) to finish 68th in the women's javelin throw.
