Bultman And Katnik Lead Trojans At Triton Invitational

Nathan Bultman placed seventh in the men's invitational hammer throw and Matthew Katnik placed ninth in the men's invitational shot put to lead the Trojans at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, Calif. today (April 13).
- The day started with the redshirt junior Bultman placing seventh in the men's invitational hammer throw with a mark of 200-1 (61.00m). Senior Jason Kim also competed in the men's hammer throw invitational and placed 29th overall with a best mark of 150-11 (46.00m).
- The redshirt junior Katnik was the final Trojan to compete and he placed ninth in the men's invitational shot put competition with a best mark of 61-4.25 (18.70m).
- Redshirt sophomore Coco Putnam took 27th in the women's javelin throw by matching her PR of 106-1 (32.35m). Her mark was actually by metric measure a one-centimeter PR.
- Senior Lauren Maurer was the only USC woman to compete in the 1500m race and she had a PR of 4:45.89 to finish 23rd.
- Freshman John Dempsey was the only USC man to compete in the 1500m race and he had a PR of 3:58.13 to finish fifth in his heat and 16th overall.
- Freshman Brynn Sauer had a season-best time of 2:15.60 to place sixth in her heat and 19th overall in the women's 800m competition. Sophomore Jennifer Daly had a time of 2:18.13 to place ninth in the same heat and finish 27th overall. Maurer came back to win the ninth 800m heat and finish 46th overall with a time of 2:25.26 in her first career 800m race.
- Sophomore David Hulme placed 24th in the men's 800m race with a time of 1:56.71, Dempsey had a season-best time of 1:58.92 to finish 31st and freshman Devin Bright had a time of 2:11.36 to finish 59th.
