Five of USC's NFL hopefuls showed their stuff at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine over the weekend.
First up was offensive lineman Chuma Edoga. Edoga was measured at 6-foot-3 and 208 lbs. Edoga ran a 5.19 40-yard dash, which was in the top half of all offensive linemen. He also put up 21 reps of 225 lbs. on the bench press.
Next up were USC linebackers and team captains Porter Gustin and Cameron Smith. Gustin measured in at 6-foot-4 and 255 lbs, while Smith stood at 6-foot-2 and 238 lbs. Gustin put up an impressive 31 reps on the bench, tied for the most among all linebackers at the Combine. It was also the most by a Trojan since Nick Perry set the USC record with 35 in 2012. Gustin ran a 4.69 40-yard dash, posted a 35.3 inch vertical jump and notched a 119.0 inch broad jump.
Smith matched his teammate's 40 time down to a hundredth of a second, also racing to a 4.69 40. Smith showed impressive athleticism with a 39-inch vertical jump and a 123-inch broad jump. He also posted 15 reps on the bench press and a 4.23 20-yard shuttle.
USC DB Marvell Tell III proved to be one of the most explosive athletes at the Combine. Though he didn't run the 40, he impressed with his jumps. His 42-inch vertical ranked fifth among all players at the Combine and third among DBs, while his 136-inch broad jump ranked fourth among all players and second among DBs. He also clocked in at 6.63 on the 3 Cone Drill (second-fastest of anyone at the Combine) and 4.01 on the 20 Yard Shuttle.
Fellow DB Iman "Biggie" Marshall did not jump, but posted a 4.53 40-yard dash and put up 16 reps on the bench.
These Trojans return to campus for their Pro Day on Wednesday, March 20.
