Five Trojans Snag NFL Combine Invites

Today, the NFL announced its list of 338 players invited to the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine, and five Trojans have earned a coveted spot.
OL Chuma Edoga, OLB Porter Gustin, DB Iman Marshall, LB Cameron Smith and DB Marvell Tell III all garnered invites to the Combine, which will take place from Feb. 26 to March 4 in Indianapolis.
At the Combine, these Trojans will have their heights and weights measured and will compete in various workouts, including the 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, 3 cone drill, 20-yard shuttle and 60-yard shuttle, plus position-specific drills.
These five Trojans were selected after completing stellar four-year careers at USC.
Edoga appeared in 44 games at USC, mostly at right tackle. In 2018, he made the All-Pac-12 Second Team. Pro Football Focus called him the second-best offensive tackle in the NFL Draft pool in terms of pass protection. He also impressed scouts while participating in the 2019 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. Edoga earned the Practice Player of the Week award, prompting Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy to say, "This is usually a really good showcase for offensive linemen that can protect the passer and that's exactly what he did ... "He had a great week — he's really talented."
Gustin was a fan favorite during his time at Troy. His dedication to the weight room helped him become a monster on the field, racking up 137 tackles, 33 tackles for loss and 21 sacks. In 2016, he made Campus Insiders Sophomore All-American honorable mention and All-Pac-12 honorable mention. In 2018, he ranked second in the Pac-12 in sacks (7.5) and made teh All-Pac-12 Second Team despite only playing in six games due to injury.
Marshall started all four years at USC, racking up 218 tackles, 36 pass deflections and 6 interceptions along the way. He was named a 2015 USA Today and Sporting News Freshman All-American first teamer. As a sophomore, he earned 2016 Campus Insiders Sophomore All-American honorable mention and All-Pac-12 honorable mention. As a junior, he made 2017 All-Pac-12 honorable mention and Phil Steele All-Pac-12 third team. As a senior, he was named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team. During his senior season, he was consistently ranked among the Top 5 corners in the nation by Pro Football Focus.
Smith was the model of consistency and leadership during his time at Troy. The four-year starter posted 354 tackles, leading the team in that category in each of his last three seasons. His career honors include Freshman All-American, Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year, Sophomore All-American, Butkus Award semifinalist an more. He was a Pac-12 First Teamer in 2017 and made the second team in 2015, 2016 and 2018. He was also a team captain in 2017 and 2018.
Tell rounds out USC's five invitees this year. The safety posted 221 tackles, 13 pass deflections, 6.5 tackles for loss and 5 interceptions during his four years at Troy. The 2018 team captain made All-Pac-12 First Team in 2017 and Second Team in 2018.
Following the Combine, these Trojans will return to Los Angeles for their Pro Day showcase on March 20. The 2019 NFL Draft will take place in Nashville, Tenn. from April 25 to 27.
