USC senior wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. has been named one of six finalists for the 2019 Pop Warner National College Football Award, presented to the college senior who has made a real impact on the field, in the classroom and in his community.
The award will be presented at the 63rd annual Pop Warner Super Bowl at Walt Disney World's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., during the second week of December.
Pittman also is a semifinalist for the 2019 Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation's top receiver, and the Witten Award, given to the College Man of the Year, and he is a 2020 Senior Bowl invitee.
He leads USC with 82 receptions for 1,118 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2019. He is sixth nationally in receptions (7.5), 15th in receiving TDs (9) and 15th in receiving yards (101.6). He has been in double digits in receptions 3 times in 2019 and over 100 yards 4 times. In his career, he has 152 career catches for 2,362 yards and 17 scores with 28 starts to rank tied for 14th on USC's career receptions list. He has 8 100-yard receiving games in his career.
Pittman is very active in community service, volunteering countless hours to a wide variety of organizations. He has overcome his struggles with stuttering and uses that challenges as a platform to promote reading skills to elementary students.
Joining Pittman as Pop Warner Award finalists are running back Cade Carney of Wake Forest, punter Blake Gillikin of Penn State, linebacker Mohamed Barry of Nebraska, safety Bryce Torneden of Kansas and defensive tackle Derrick Brown of Auburn.
C.J. Conrad, former University of Kentucky tight end, took home last year's award.
