Ali In Hurdles, Muhammad & Benjamin In 4x400m Relays Win Gold Medals At World Championships

Trojans earn 10 medals, 7 gold, at 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships
Nia Ali won a gold medal in the women's 100m hurdles and Dalilah Muhammad and Rai Benjamin earned a gold medal in the 4x400m relays in the final day of the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar today (Oct. 6). During the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships, Trojans claimed 10 medals, including seven gold medals.
Ali won the women's 100m hurdles gold medal with a personal-best time of 12.34 (+0.3) in the finals to win her first title at the World Championships. It was also the first title by a USA athlete in the event at the World Championships since 2013. Ali advanced to the final earlier in the day by taking second in her semifinal heat with a time of 12.44 (+1.0), which at the time was her PR.
Muhammad ran the third leg for USA's winning women's 4x400m relay which posted a time of 3:18.92. Muhammad was credited with a 49.4 split on her gold medal run.
Benjamin anchored USA's men's 4x400m relay to gold, as the team finished with a time of 2:56.69. That time was the fastest by Team USA since the 2008 Olympics.
Trojans earning medals at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships and their events were: Nia Ali (Gold, W-100m H), Rai Benjamin (Silver, M-400m H, Gold, M-4x400m), Allyson Felix (Gold, X-4x400m, Gold, W-4x400m-ran in prelims), Andre De Grasse (Bronze, M-100m, Silver, M-200m), Kendall Ellis (Gold, W-4x400m-ran in prelims), Dalilah Muhammad (Gold, W-400m H and Gold, W-4x400m). In addition, Muhammad set the world record in the 400m hurdles with her winning time of 52.16 and Amalie Iuel set the Norwegian record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.72.
