USC Finalizes 2019-20 Track & Field Roster

18 newcomers set to make their mark for the Trojan T&F program
The USC Track & Field program has added 18 newcomers to its 2020 track and field rosters, which includes the five signings announced during the original early signing period last December by USC Director of Track & Field Caryl Smith Gilbert. This talented group includes 15 freshmen and three transfers.
During the early signing period in 2019, the Trojans announced the signing of sprinters Jatana Folston, Jan'Taijah Ford, Jazmyne Frost, Brian Herron and Nicholas Ramey. Folston (Fr., Miami, Fla.) has a PR of 53.04 in the 400m and won the Florida 2A title as a junior, while Ford (Fr., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) has a PR of 51.57 in the 400m which ranked second nationally among high schoolers in 2019 and she was a four-time state champion in the event. Frost (Fr., Hawthorne, Calif.) has PRs of 11.57 in the 100m and 23.65 in the 200m, Herron (Fr., Decatur, Ga.) has a PR of 46.07 in the 400m and is the World Junior, U.S. Junior and high school record-holder in the indoor 300m with a time of 32.64 and Ramey (Fr., Snellville, Ga.) has a PR of 46.20 in the 400m and won the 2019 Georgia 7A title in the event.
Additional sprinters and hurdlers include Austin Allen (Fr., Odenton, Md.) who has run 10.67 in the 100m, 21.9 in the 200m and has a best long jump of 24-1, Brayden Borquez (Fr., Los Angeles, Calif.) who has run 10.73 in the 100m, 21.21 in the 200m, 46.67 in the 400m and 37.24 in the 300m hurdles, Kenan Christon (Fr., San Diego, Calif.) who has bests of 10.30 in the 100m and 20.55 in the 200m, Zion Gordon (Fr., Denver, Colo.) who has run 10.67 in the 100m and 13.62 in the 110m hurdles, Chioma Okonkwo (Fr., Temecula, Calif.) who has run 54.25 in the 400m, Kenya Payne (Fr., Compton, Calif.) who has run 42.30 in the 300m hurdles and 63.07 in the 400m hurdles and Nicole Yeargin (Sr., Bowie, Md.) who transferred to USC from Kent State and has a PR of 23.26 in the 200m and 52.76 in the 400m.
Jumpers added to USC's squad include Jalyn Jackson (Fr., San Diego, Calif.) has PRs of 24-10 in the long jump and 50-9.50 in the triple jump and Darryl Shaw (Rs.-Sr., Fayetteville, N.C.) who transferred to USC from North Carolina and has PRs of 23-5.25 in the long jump and 51-8.50 in the triple jump.
New Trojan distance and middle distance runners are Patty Haggerty (Fr., Bronxville, N.Y.) who has bests of 2:17 in the 800m and 4:51 in the 1500m, Abygail Paez (So., San Pedro, Calif.) who came to USC from Los Angeles Harbor College and has bests of 58.96 in the 400m and 2:22 in the 800m, Brooke Rodi (Fr., San Diego, Calif.) who has PRs of 2:15 in the 800m and 5:10 in the 1600m and Sam Sloan (Fr., Dallas, Texas) who has a best time of a 49.6 in the 400m and 1:57.05 in the 800m.
