Senior Allisen Corpuz, junior Alyaa Abdulghany and sophomore Malia Nam all fired 1-under 71s to lead the No. 3 USC women's golf team into a tie for third place after the first round of the 2019 Stanford Intercollegiate on Friday (Oct. 11) at the Stanford (Calif.) G.C.
The Trojans, the defending champions of the tournament, combined for a 2-under 282, tied with Oregon, four back of Arizona State and two behind second-place and host Stanford. Corpuz, Abdulghany and Nam are all tied for ninth, three strokes back.

Corpuz carded her fifth straight round of par or better thanks to a three-birdie, two-bogey effort, helping to account for a two-under back 9. She has also finished with four consecutive 70s.
Nam pocketed her second sub-par round in a row. She was 2-over through 10, but birdied 11, 13 and 17 for her 70.
Junior Gabriela Ruffels is tied for 23rd at 1-over 72. She was 3-under between 8 and 13 and 4-over on the remaining holes. Junior Amelia Garvey is tied for 32nd at 2-over 73. She had four birdies on the day.
