This weekend, three Trojans punched their ticket to Super Bowl LIII.
The Los Angeles Rams defeated the New Orleans Saints in dramatic fashion to send USC alumni Robert Woods, Nickell Robey-Coleman and Justin Davis to their first Super Bowl, where they'll face the New England Patriots.
In the NFC Championship game, Woods hauled in 6 catches for 33 yards for the Rams, who have shared the Coliseum with the Trojans for the past two seasons. Robey-Coleman posted 1 tackle and 2 passes defended. According to Pro Football Focus, he allowed just 1 catch for 9 yards all game (targeted 7 times), and allowed a measly 39.6 passer rating when targeted. Davis, meanwhile, was inactive for the Rams on Sunday.
Had the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Patriots on Sunday, USC would be guaranteed a Super Bowl ring this year, as Trojan alum Leon McQuay III is on the Chiefs practice squad.
Woods, Robey-Coleman and Davis will continue USC's impressive Super Bowl tradition. Thanks to that trio, at least one Trojan will have appeared in all but six of the 53 Super Bowls (114 USC representatives overall). The three Trojans in the Super Bowl this year are the most in a single year since 2014, when Michael Morgan (Seattle), Malcolm Smith (Seattle) and Winston Justice (Denver) represented USC in Super Bowl XLVIII. Smith was named the MVP of that game — one of three Trojans to be named Super Bowl MVP.
Woods, Robey-Coleman and Davis will fight for the Lombardi Trophy on Sunday, Feb. 3 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
