The Trojans were in full pads for the first time this Fall Camp.
With the acclimation period over, the Trojans were able to go full pads and ramp up the physicality another level.
- USC head coach Clay Helton announced that OLB Porter Gustin will undergo surgery this week to repair a minor meniscus tear in his left knee. He is expected to miss 2-4 weeks.
- The tailbacks were in the spotlight today as the Trojans ran 20 consecutive running plays in a live tackling situation. All four backs showed off their skills, especially sophomore Stephen Carr, who broke off a long touchdown run. "He looked really good," Helton said. "He did not look tentative when running in between the tackles. And then you see what he can do on pass routes (two TD catches). He's dynamic at catching the ball out of the backfield."
- Redshirt sophomore Vavae Malepeai (pictured) was also impressive, running through tacklers and hurdling defenders. True freshman Markese Stepp broke off a nice run down the sideline as well, showing he belongs in this talented group.
- The quarterbacks shined during the red zone period as all three connected on touchdown passes. "I am really looking forward to watching the tape," Helton said about his quarterbacks. "You really didn't see any critical error today. I'm pleased."
