2018 Fall Camp #2: Notes

The defense dominated the second day of Fall Camp at Howard Jones Field on Saturday.
- Full injury report, per USC head coach Clay Helton: S Ykili Ross and LB Cameron Smith were both pulled with tight hamstrings.
- Senior DB Ajene Harris hauled in an interception for the second time in as many days, this time off QB Jack Sears. "That veteran DB corps is really making great strides here early in camp," Helton said. "I can't wait to watch this defense play. I'm very proud of where they're at."
- The DBs have put pressure on the QBs both days of Fall Camp, but Helton added a pass rush today and will continue to do so as camp goes on. "We're going to make it as hard as possible [on the quarterbacks] in this evaluation period," he said.
- Helton also emphasized that with an inexperienced quarterback taking the reins, it will be important to get each running back on the roster ready to play a big role. "No one man can run 40 times — you'd be a dead person," Helton said. "So you have to be able to play multiple players. Doesn't matter who starts ... When USC has been at its best, you've had two great backs. Not good backs. Great backs."
- The Trojans have an off day tomorrow before getting back to work on Monday.
