After winning Gatorade Male Athlete of the Year, incoming USC freshman QB JT Daniels graced the cover of Sports Illustrated.
Daniels, who graduated from high school a year early and reclassified to the Class of 2018 in order to attend USC this fall, becomes the 140th Trojan to be featured on the magazine cover.
Daniels appears alongside Katelyn Tuohy, the cross country and track star who won Gatorade Female Athlete of the Year. Daniels is the fourth Trojan to win Gatorade National Player of the Year, following in the footsteps of Allyson Felix (track & field, 2003), Matt Barkley (football, 2008) and Morgan Andrews (soccer, 2013).
During his final season at Mater Dei HS (Santa Ana, Calif.), Daniels went 262-for-365 (71.8 comp pct) for 4,123 yards and 52 TD with only 4 INT. He added 9 rush TD for a total of 61 scores while leading his team to a state and national championship.
When USC fall camp begins on Aug. 3, Daniels willl compete with redshirt freshman Jack Sears and redshirt sophomores Matt Fink and Holden Thomas for the starting QB spot following the departure of Sam Darnold.
