Cockrell Named To Academic All-America Second Team

Sophomore was a 2-time All-American & helped lead USC to the team title at the NCAA T&F Championships
Sophomore Anna Cockrell was named to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-America Track/Cross Country Second Team it was announced today (June 21) . The 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-America Track/Cross Country Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom.
Cockrell, from Charlotte, N.C., maintains a 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) in Communications. Cockrell helped lead the USC women's track and field team to the 2018 NCAA title by placing second in the 400m hurdles and running on the winning 4x400m relay which clinched the team championship. Cockrell had a season-best time of 55.71 to finish second in the 400m hurdles and ran 12.88 to place ninth in the 100m hurdles at the NCAA Championships. She also ran the second leg for USC's 4x400m relay which won with the fourth-fastest time in school history of 3:27.06.
Cockrell won the 2018 Pac-12 400m hurdles title with a time of 56.47, placed third in the 100m hurdles with a PR of 12.88 and ran the second leg for USC's winning 4x400m relay which helped lead USC to its first Conference team title since 1996. Her 100m hurdles time is the fifth-fastest in school history. She has a PR of 55.14 in the 400m hurdles, which she ran in placing second at the 2017 NCAA Championships.
