Terry & Norman Again Earn Pac-12 Track Athlete Of The Week Honors
April 24, 2018 | Track & Field, Features
USC's Twanisha "TeeTee" Terry was named the Pac-12 Women's Track Athlete of the Week and Michael Norman was named the Pac-12 Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 16-22, it was announced by the Conference today (April 24).
Terry had a record-setting day at the Mt. SAC relays on April 21. First, she anchored USC's winning women's 4x100m relay which won the Invitational race with a school-record time of 42.57, shattering the previous record of 42.90. The 42.57 relay time by the Trojans is the second-fastest in Conference history. Terry then came back to set the USC school and freshman records in the 100m Invitational with a time of 10.99 (+1.7). That time is the fastest wind-legal time in the country this season. Terry broke Olympian and four-time NCAA champion Angela Williams' USC school and freshman record of 11.04 set in 1999. It is also tied for the fifth-fastest wind-league time in Conference history.
Norman, a cadidate for The Bowerman, won the men's 400m Invitational race at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 21, his first 400m race of the season, with a PR of 44.53. That time bettered his third-place standing on USC's all-time list and is the best time in the country this season.
It is the third Pac-12 Track Athlete Of The Week honor for Norman and second for Terry, all this season. The pair were both named Pac-12 Track Athletes of the Week on March 27 and Norman won again on April 10. Norman becomes the first Pac-12 male athlete to win three awards in a season since USC's Andre De Grasse in 2015 and the eighth to accomplish the feat since the 1978 season.
