Annelus & Samuel Win Events At Mt. SAC Relays

Bultman enters USC's top 10 in the hammer throw
Angie Annelus won the women's 100m dash and Cameron Samuel won the men's 400m hurdles at the Mt. SAC Relays held at El Camino College in Torrance, Calif. and Nathan Bultman had the top collegiate hammer throw at the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Calif. to moved into USC's top 10 in the event to highlight the Trojans' action today (April 20). In addition, USC had seven runners compete in 1500m races at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif. In all, USC competed at three different meets over 14 hours today.

- Annelus won the women's 100m dash with a time of 11.44 (-0.3). Zaria Francis placed seventh in the 100m with a time of 11.70 (-0.7) and Chanel Brissett placed ninth with a time of 11.76 (-0.3). Former Trojan athletes running were Destinee Brown (3rd, 11.49) and Jessica Davis (10th, 11.80).
- Samuel won the men's 400m hurdles with a PR of 50.95. His previous best was 52.00 set two weeks ago at the Sun Angel Classic. Entering action this weekend, his time would rank 12th on the national descending order list.
- Mecca McGlaston had a time of 13.52 (+0.4) to take second in her section and fifth overall in the women's 100m hurdles. Lyndsey Lopes had a slow start, but recovered to run 13.65 (+1.5) to finish fourth in her section and eighth overall in the hurdles, just off her PR.
- T.J. Brock placed sixth in the men's 100m dash with a season-best time of 10.41 (+1.2). He was third among the college runners. Christian Sourapas placed 24th in the men's 100m with a season-best time of 10.64 (+1.2).
- Sourapas then came back to win his heat and place 11th in the men's 200m dash with a time of 21.46 (-0.2).
- Kayla Richardson placed fourth in her section of the women's 400m dash and seventh overall with a time of 54.46.
- Lopes came back to place second in her heat and 19th overall in the women's 200m race with a time of 24.47 (-0.2). Francis also took second in her heat and 23rd overall with a time of 24.60 (+1.6).
- On Thursday at Mt. SAC, Nathan Bultman placed ninth in the men's hammer throw invitational with a mark of 208-2 (63.45m). It was his only clean throw and the second-best of his career, prior to Friday's action at Long Beach. Former USC athlete Conor McCullough placed sixth in the event with a mark of 233-7.
- Also Thursday at Mt. SAC, Joy McArthur placed 11th in the women's hammer throw invitational with a best throw of 188-0 (57.31m).
- Bultman placed fourth in the men's hammer throw, first among collegians, with a PR of 220-2 (67.12m). His mark moved him into 10th place on USC's all-time list. Jason Kim placed 56th in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 153-4 (46.75m).
- Joy McArthur had a best mark of 193-5 (58.96m) in the women's hammer throw to place 16th.
- Colette Putnam finished 58th in the women's javelin throw with a mark of 105-10 (32.26m), three inches off her PR.
- Robert Ford had a PR of 3:48.67 to win his heat in the men's nighttime 1500m race (89th out of an elite field). Ford cut nearly five seconds off his previous best 1500m race and now stands just outside USC's top 10 in the event.
- Matthew Myrtue placed 26th in the men's 1500m race early in the morning with a PR of 4:01.66, while Josh Zavala finished 41st with a time of 4:04.64.
- Chloe Berry had a PR of over four seconds at 4:25.29 in her women's nighttime 1500m race, Amber Gore had a slight PR of 4:31.46 and Lauren Maurer had a slight PR of 4:49.10. They finished 47th, 91st and 227th respectively out of a field of nearly 300 runners. Julia Bounds ran in the 15th heat, but did not finish.
