Prep Career: Mauga made 2017 PrepStar All-American, USA Today All-Hawaii Defensive Player of the Year and KHON2/Cover2 Manti Te'o Defensive Player of the Year as a senior linebacker and tight end. He had 52.5 tackles, including 5 for losses (with 3 sacks), 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries and 3 defensive TDs in 2017.
USC head coach Clay Helton on Mauga: "What he has shown has been great burst and penetration off the ball. His first step is amazing. Extremely slippery, the tackles hate going against him, he has great body control ... He kind of has that same knack that Uchenna and Porter have: he's able to dip underneath the block and drive and keep great balance and body control. And he's very football-smart. You don't see him bust a lot."
