No. 4 Trojans Beat LMU but Fall to No. 1 Pepperdine on Zuma Sand

The Women of Troy had their six-match winning streak halted by the top-ranked Waves
MALIBU, Calif. – The fourth-ranked USC beach volleyball team (17-7) earned a 4-1 win over No. 16 Loyola Marymount (12-9) to stretch its winning streak to six duals before having that streak ended by top-ranked tournament host Pepperdine (18-3) in a 4-1 defeat on Zuma Beach on Saturday, March 31.
The Women of Troy earned straight-set wins at the top two courts clinched the win over the Lions when junior Katrina Kernochan and senior Alexandra Poletto claimed a 21-13, 21-19 win over Bozena Culo and Maddie Leiphardt at court four.
USC fought through two three-setters and went extra points in many frames but could earn only one point against the top-ranked Waves. The Trojans' dual point came from the top court where junior Abril Bustamante and freshman Tina Graudina earned their 16th overall win on a 21-16, 20-22, 17-15 victory over Deahna Kraft and Corinne Quiggle.
Up next, the Trojans head to Westwood for the first time where they will face crosstown rival UCLA (24-3) on Wednesday, April 4, at 3:30 p.m. PT. The dual will be shown on Pac-12 Network and Pac-12 Los Angeles. The Bruins are on a 19-match winning streak.
