The Women of Troy will welcome a quartet of coveted beach recruits to the roster next fall
LOS ANGELES – The USC beach volleyball program has signed four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent (NLI) to join the Women of Troy in the fall of 2019, head coach Anna Collier announced on Tuesday, Dec. 11.
Â
Next fall, the Trojans will welcome Kyla Doig (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union HS), Harper Hallgren (Southlake, Texas/Carroll HS), Audrey Nourse (Newport Beach, Calif./Orange Lutheran HS), and Nicole Nourse (Newport Beach, Calif./Orange Lutheran HS) to the roster. They will compete for USC beginning in the spring of 2020.
Â
"This group of incoming freshmen is immensely talented," said Collier. "Each of these women will arrive at USC with a wealth of experience on the sand. We are very excited to welcome them to the Trojan Family and look forward to their contributions to the continued success of our program for years to come."
Â
Doig is a three-year member of the USA Junior National Team and has earned top-five finishes in each of the last three years at the U.S. High Performance Championships. Doig made an early splash on the beach scene with four gold-medal podium appearances in 2016, including at the West Coast AAU Junior Olympics.
Â
Hallgren is a three-year member of the A2 USA Beach High Performance National Team and earned a spot on the A1 squad in 2018. She claimed gold medals at the 2016 CBVA Manhattan Beach Pier championship and at the 2017 AVP First U16 National Championship. Hallgren is the younger sister of current USC sophomore Haley Hallgren.
Â
Audrey and Nicole Nourse are twin sisters who are three-year members of the A1 USA Beach High Performance National Team. The duo claimed first-place finishes at the 2018 U19 USA High Performance Championships, and claimed gold medals at the 2017 AAU Junior Olympics. The twins also claimed gold at the 2017 U16 BVCA National Championships and the U16 State Cal Cup. The Nourses have earned top-five finishes in 10 major competitions over the last three years and gained valuable international experience this summer at the FIVB Montpellier (France) one-star event.
Â
Last spring, the Women of Troy (27-14) finished as the runner-up at the Pac-12 Championship and were chosen as one of two at-large selections into the 2018 NCAA Championship. The Trojans advanced to the Saturday final at the championship and finished in fourth place. Now in her eighth year at the helm, Collier collected her 170th victory in 2018. Senior Abril Bustamante and sophomore Tina Graudina were named AVCA All-Americans and were chosen as the Volleyball Magazine National Pair of the Year.
