Gore Leads USC At The Pac-12 XC Championships
October 26, 2018 | Women's Cross Country, Features
USC's women's cross country team placed 12th at the 2018 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships held on the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif. today (Oct. 26). The Trojans' top finisher on the 6K course was senior Amber Gore, who has led USC for 10 consecutive races over the last two seasons.
Gore placed 73rd overall (66th in scoring) with a time of 21:55.01. She improved her finish at the conference meet every season and was one of USC's top two finishers in each of the last three Pac-12 Championships.
Freshman Alyssa Brewer was the second Trojan finisher as she had a big 6K PR of 22:27.23 to finish 87th overall (73rd in scoring). Junior Chloe Berry was the third USC runner to finish, coming in with a time of 22:59.30 to finish 93rd (77th in scoring)
Junior Kamryn Weber, in her first Pac-12 XC Championships race, had a personal-best 6K time of 23:26.48 to finish 98th (79th in scoring). Freshman Jemima Russell, in her first race for USC and first 6K cross country race, was USC's final scoring runner with a time of 23:55.72, good for 100th overall (81st in scoring).
USC's final two runners were sophomore Jennifer Daly with a time of 24:19.36 (102nd) and freshman Brynn Sauer running 25:22.83 in her first 6K cross country race (103rd).
It figured to be a tight team battle, as the Pac-12 features four of the top 16 ranked teams in the country, and it was as Oregon won with 32 points and No. 1 Colorado took second with 48 points.
