Cunningham wins men's high jump
USC's Randall Cunningham won the men's high jump, Lyndsey Lopes was fourth in the pentathlon, Anna Cockrell was third in the women's 200m and Twanisha Terry set the USC freshman women's 200m indoor record during the first day of action at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. today (Jan. 26).
- Cunningham won the men's high jump when he cleared a season-best 7-4.50/2.25m in his first attempt, as one of two jumpers to reach that height. He then tried to set his indoor PR, but could not clear 7-5.75/2.28m in three attempts. Earnest Sears III placed eighth with a season-best clearance of 6-11.00/2.11m.
- Lopes has a huge PR of 2:23.19 to take second in the pentathlon 800m race and earn 781 points in the final event. She moved from sixth to fourth in the final standing with a PR of 3,921 points, a 167-point improvement over her previous best pentathlon. Lopes began the day by taking fifth in the pentathlon 60m hurdles with a PR of 8.70 to earn 974 points. She then earned 842 points in the high jump with a clearance of 5-6.50/1.69m, which was tied for fifth in the event. She then took fifth in the shot put with a mark of 34-5/10.49m to earn 562 points. The long jump was next and she had a best leap of 18-8.75/5.71m to earn 762 points in the event.
- Cockrell took third in the women's 200m dash with a PR of 23.16 which moved her from sixth to fourth on USC's all-time indoor list in the event. Deanna Hill opened up with a time of 23.21 to place fifth and TeeTee Terry placed eighth with a USC freshman record time of 23.43, breaking Ky Westbrooks freshman record of 23.44 set in 2015. Westbrook finished 10th today with a season-best time of 23.54 and Shante Robinson placed 31st with a time of 24.75.
- Margaux Jones placed fifth in the women's long jump with a best leap of 20-6.25/6.25m. Madisen Richards placed ninth with a season-best jump of 19-4.25/5.90m and Courtney Corrin placed 12th at 19-1.50/5.83m.
- Eric Sloan placed sixth in the men's long jump with a best jump of 24-11.00/7.59m. Dominic Smallwood took eighth with a jump of 24-5.00/7.44m.
- Nick Moore ran in the men's 200m dash, but was disqualified with a lane violation in the fifth section.
