2017 Camp Opener: Notes

The Trojans held their first practice of 2017 Camp on Friday.

USC head coach Andy Enfield was unable to comment on the ongoing investigation of assistant coach Tony Bland but did elaborate on the emotional toll it has had on the team. "The situation this week with coach Bland has been very difficult. It's been very challenging and emotional for all of us, our players, coaches, etc. I'm not allowed to comment, I've been instructed not to comment due to the ongoing investigation. But we're here really for these guys, we're here for the basketball. We're here because they've improved so much and have the chance to do something special this year," said Enfield.

Enfield gave credit to his team for what they've accomplished so far and what he believes they'll accomplish in the future. "Our players win games, they've been in two straight NCAA tournaments, they won two games in last year's NCAA tournament," said Enfield. "They keep improving and that's what college basketball is all about."

Senior guard Jordan McLaughlin and junior forward Chimezie Metu have been looking forward to being back in training camp. "We're a family, we come in here and work hard every day," said McLaughlin. "We love coming to practice and love being around each other, it's fun."

Enfield said every player on the team is eligible to play this season, as of now.
