This weekend, as USC's 125th football team inched closer to its 2017 season opener, the Trojans in the NFL continued to tune up for their year to come.
USC's QBs in the NFL had another fine showing in the third week of the preseason. Cardinals QB Carson Palmer went 8-for-13 for 86 yards and a TD, while Titans QB Matt Cassel went 4-for-7 for 62 yards. 49ers QB Matt Barkley was a perfect 2-for-2 for 19 yards in limited action.
Seahawks RB Tre Madden hauled in the first TD of his NFL career against the Chiefs on Friday -- an inspiring moment for a player who's persevered through a number of serious injuries.
Steelers TE Xavier Grimble also hauled in a TD this weekend, to finish with 3 receptions for 26 yards. His teammate, rookie WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, had 3 receptions for 31 yards.
Fellow rookie Adoree' Jackson had a 23-yard kickoff return and 2 punt returns for 10 yards for the Titans on Sunday.
The final slate of preseason games takes place this Thursday, before the 2017 NFL season officially kicks off on Thurs., Sept. 7.
