The Trojans wrapped up Fall Camp with a situational scrimmage at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum today.
- Injury report, per USC head coach Clay Helton: DB Isaiah Pola-Mao (shoulder), Jonathan Lockett (hip surgery, will redshirt this year), LB Hunter Echols (hip joint infection), S Ykili Ross (shoulder).
- USC QB Sam Darnold and the first-string offense got the day started on the right foot, marching down the field to score. "Just the rhythm and the flow of having all the guys out there and just feeling how confident they were -- especially the quarterback position and the running back position -- were phenomenal," he said.
- Helton said that RB Ronald Jones II was in "midseason form" today, and described his style today as "violent."
- On the second team, Helton singled out freshman DB Bubba Bolden, redshirt freshman RB Vavae Malepeai, freshman RB Stephen Carr and freshman LB Levi Jones for their performances today.
- With USC's first team defense locked in, players like LB Porter Gustin and LB Uchenna Nwosu were held out for the majority of the day to give them a rest.
- While the first team defense is set, USC's placekicker is certainly not. Michael Brown made 2 of 5 attempts on the day, while walk-on Chase McGrath went 4-for-5. "I thought Chase had a really good day today, he looked really confident," Helton said. "It was neat to see Chase come out here. He's really pushing for the job."
- USC will treat next week as a mock game week, with a scrimmage at an undisclosed location next Saturday.
