All-American Benjamin Tops List Of Additions To USC's T&F Roster

Trojans add top-end talent to already strong roster
The junior All-American Benjamin placed second in the 400m hurdles at the 2017 NCAA Championships with a personal-best of 48.33, just .01 seconds behind the champion. His time matches the collegiate best of USC record-holder and Olympic gold medalist Felix Sanchez. Benjamin also won the 2017 Pac-12 400m hurdles title with a time of 49.52. Benjamin has a best 400m time of 45.72. He was also a 400m hurdles All-American in 2016 as he placed sixth in the event at the NCAA Championships. Benjamin is from Mount Vernon, N.Y.
Annelus, a redshirt sophomore who sat out last season, reached the 2016 NCAA semifinals in the 200m and as a member of UCLA's 4x100m relay team. She has a best of 23.22 in the 200m dash and 11.43 in the 100m. As a freshman she also placed sixth in the 200m and seventh in the 100m at the Pac-12 Championships. Annelus is from Grandview, Mo. and was a two-time state champion in the 100m and 200m dashes.
The junior Logan, a transfer hurdler from Cerritos College, has a best of 52.89 in the 400m hurdles. He finished fourth at the CCCAA California State Championships in the event in each of the two seasons at Cerritos. Logan graduated in 2015 from Artesia HS in Lakewood, Calif., where he ran track and played on the football team.
Stamp is a 2017 graduate from Grayson HS in Loganville, Ga. and was named Gwinnett Daily Post Co-Field Athlete of the Year. Stamp won the Georgia 7A shot put title with a mark of 44-6.75 and placed second in the discus with a throw of 124. She has a best of 46-6 in the shot put and 141-1 in the discus.
The high jumper Palka is a 2017 graduate from Oaks Christian HS in Westlake, Calif. She placed fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 5-8 at the 2017 CIF California State Meet. She also cleared 5-8 to place second in the high jump at the Mt. SAC Relays. She won the 2016 CIF State high jump title with a PR of 5-9. She was a member of four-straight team championships at Oaks Christian. Palka was named to the 2017 all-area first team by the Los Angeles Daily News.
Sears is a 2017 graduate of Bishop Alemany HS in Mission Hills, Calif. He is a high jumper with a personal-best clearance of 7-0. He placed third at the 2017 CIF California State Meet with a clearance of 6-7. He placed second in 2016 at the state meet with a jump of 7-0.
Another transfer to the USC program is distance runner Angel Vallier from Saddleback College. She comes to USC after two years of competing as a middle distance and cross country runner at Saddleback. As a freshman at Saddleback she finished ninth in the State Meet in the steeplechase. She has a best of 4:43.08 in the 1500m and 2:18.15 in the 800m. She also had a best of 19:56 in cross country in the 5K race. She graduated from Mission Viejo HS in 2015.
Additional high school athletes entering USC this fall as freshmen are:
Isaiah Robinson, a 2017 graduate of Neuqua Valley HS in Naperville, Illinois, is a middle distance runner with a personal best of 1:54.38 in the 800m. He anchored his team to the Illinois 3A 3200m relay title and a third-place finish in the 4x400m relay despite entering the meet ranked fourth and seventh in the events.
Mackenzie Ellison is a 2017 graduate from Brookwood HS in Snellville, Ga. She won the state 7A 800m title with a time of 2:14.70, after running a school-record time of 2:14.06 in the prelims. Ellison has a personal best of 2:12.81 in the 800m. Ellison also has a PR of 5:01.97 in the 1600m which earned her a third-place finish at the state meet on the same day.
Julia Bounds graduated from St. Francis HS in Mountain View, Calif. in 2017 and will run distances and compete in cross country for USC. She has bests of 4:42 in the 1500m, 5:09.74 in the 1600m and 11:00.01 in the 3200m. Both her 1600m and 3200m times are school records. In cross country she has a best 5K time of 17:54.0 and best three-mile time of 18:56.3.
Jennifer Daly is a 2017 graduate of Dana Hills HS in Dana Point, Calif. She will compete in the distances and cross country for USC. She has a best of 2:11.93 in the 800m and 5:09.05 in the 1600m. She ran on Dana Hills' 4x400m relay team which set a school and Orange County record with a time of 3:46.67 in the CIF State prelims before taking second in the finals. She had a best three-mile cross country time of 17:39.8.
Sydney Tullai graduated from Ayala HS in Whittier, Calif in 2016. She had best times of 2:14.31 in the 800m and 4:48.26 in the 1500m. In cross country she had a best 5K time of 18:12.0 and a best three-mile time of 17:12.0.
