Women's T&F Team & Seven Individuals Earn All-Academic Honors

T.J Brock, Anna Cockrell, Deanna Hill, Margaux Jones, Nick Ponzio, Madisen Richards and Christian Sourapas as well as the women's track and field team were named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic today (July 28).

Brock maintained a 3.54 GPA in Communications during his freshman season at USC. Brock just returned from Peru where he won the gold medal in the 100m dash at the Pan Am U20 Championships. He ran 10.45 (-0.4) there and had a best legal time during the season of 10.30. Brock placed fourth in the 100m dash and second as part of USC's 4x100m relay team at the Pac-12 Championships.

Cockrell amazingly was just as dominant in the classroom as she was on the track as she posted a 4.0 GPA in Communications during her freshman campaign. Cockrell earned All-America honors by placing second in the 400m hurdles and eighth in the 100m hurdles at the NCAA Championships. She broke the USC freshman record in the 400m hurdles early in the season and kept lowering it, with a best of 55.14 in placing eighth at the USA T&F Championships. She ranks third in the 400m hurdles and fourth in the 100m hurdles on USC's all-time list. She also ran on the second-fastest USC women's 4x400m relay ever which posted a time of 3:26.09.

Hill completed her junior season with a cumulative GPA of 3.27 in Human Biology. She placed sixth in the 200m dash, 10th in the 100m and second as part of USC's school-record-setting 4x400m relay at the 2017 NCAA Championships. Hill also placed second in the 200m and fourth in the 100m dash at the Pac-12 Championships. She ranks third in the 200m and sixth in the 100m on USC's all-time lists.

Jones maintains a 3.57 GPA in Art History during her first two seasons at USC. She placed second in the long jump at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships and ranks sixth in the event on USC's all-time list.

Ponzio completed his redshirt junior season at USC with a 3.67 GPA in Psychology. He became a two-time All-American in the shot put as he placed sixth at the 2017 NCAA Championships. He also took second in the shot put at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships. Ponzio ranks sixth on USC's all-time shot put list.

Richards has posted a cumulative 3.36 GPA in two seasons at USC with a Human Biology major. Richards placed seventh in the long jump at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships.

The junior Sourapas has a cumulative GPA 3.52 with a major in Communications. He set PRs during the year of 10.37 (+0.9) in the 100m and 20.63 (+0.9) in the 200m. He want on to place third in the 200m and seventh in the 100m at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships.

The women's team earned All-Academic honors as it maintained a composite 3.07 GPA.
