Top-seeded USC hosts the tournament at McAlister Field, and takes on fifth-seeded San Diego State today at noon. It's the Trojans' second matchup with the Aztecs this year. In the teams' first meeting, USC won, 15-3.
USC captured the regular season title and locked up the top seed in the tournament by going 8-0 in conference play and 14-3 overall this year.
Senior captain, two-time MPSF Player of the Year and the nation's leading scorer Michaela Michael seems to give USC the edge in every matchup. Today, she and the Trojans look to break an MPSF record by earning their 19th consecutive conference win. USC also owns a 23-game home win streak.
Should they earn the victory today, the Trojans advance to the championship, which will be held Sunday at McAlister Field at 1 p.m. In the title match, USC would face the winner of today's battle between Colorado and Stanford. The Trojans topped both these teams earlier this season, earning an 11-5 home win over the Buffs and a 15-12 road win over the Cardinal.
