After an undefeated regular season last year, the Trojans enter 2017 ranked No. 4 in the nation -- the highest ranking in program history and the highest a West Coast team has ever been slotted.
USC is familiar with the Gaels, having defeated them in all four matchups in program history by a total margin of 75-22.
The odds are in the Trojans' favor once again, as they have an impressive record at home over the last few years. Sporting a 23-8 all-time record at McAlister, the Trojans haven't dropped a match there since April 18, 2014.
USC returns core group of players who hope to continue to build the tradition of lacrosse at Troy. Michaela Michael, the 2015 MPSF Player of the Year, is the senior leader of a strong offense that includes Kylie Drexel, Gabby McMahon and Cynthia Del Core.
The Trojans have made their name on the other side of the ball, though, sporting the nation's best defense last year (5.8 goals against average). Goalkeeper Gussie Johns, who was recently named along with associate head coach Devon Wills to the U.S. Lacrosse Women's National Team, commands the defense.
USC also welcomes the nation's top recruit in midfielder Kerrigan Miller, who hopes to contribute immediately.
