The quartet of Hanni Leach, Riley Scott, Louise Hansson and Anika Apostalon set a school record in the 200y medley relay, finishing less than a second behind Stanford and Cal.
In the 800y free relay, Hansson's leadoff leg set a new USC record. The freshman, who swam for Team Sweden at the Rio Olympics this summer, posted a 1:42.10 in the 200y sprint -- the third-fastest time in the NCAA this year.
Hansson and the Trojans hit the pool again today, tomorrow and Saturday in attempt to defend the Pac-12 crown.
Meanwhile, USC men's diving team got off to a good start, with Dashiell Enos leading the way with a 324.95, good for fifth place.
