USC football WR Jalen Greene mentioned that he enjoyed speaking with the organizations' representatives, especially those that specialized in helping student-athletes transition to working life.
"They helped me realize that we learn a lot of things playing sports and have really valuable traits," he said.
According to Lana Magilner, a member of the sales team at Aflac, one of those traits is competitiveness.
"Athletes are competitive. They don't stop, and that's what we look for," she said. "They're ambitious, very outgoing, and that's important in sales."
In addition to making connections and handing out resumes, Trojans were invited to create and spruce up their LinkedIn profiles at the event.
A number of Trojan student-athletes who benefited from the event in the past attended yet again, but this time, they sat on the other side of the employer's booth. Monica Vavic (women's water polo), Jessica Musmanno (women's soccer) and Tommy Leonard (men's volleyball) were a few of the USC alumni representing their companies and hoping to bring more Trojans into the fold.
The student-athletes have another chance to network at USC's official Career Fair on campus today.
