The No. 2 Trojans topped LMU, Hawai'i and UCLA to set up a clash with No. 1 Stanford in the finals of the tournament. USC battled back and forth with the Cardinal all game, 4-3 at the half. But at full time, Stanford had evened it up at 7-7. USC outscored the Cardinal, 3-2, in the two overtime frames to seal a 10-9 victory.
The Trojans have now won 45 contests in a row dating back to the last game of the 2015 season. It's the longest streak in USC water polo history -- men's or women's -- and is one short of tying the national women's water polo record.
Standing at 18-0 on the season, USC has a chance to tie the record when it takes on CSU Bakersfield this Saturday. Should the Trojans win this weekend, they'll have plenty of time to rest up before taking on Indiana in Honolulu, HI in the potential record-breaking matchup.
Saturday's game vs. CSU Bakersfield begins at 1 p.m. at USC's Uytengsu Aquatic Center.
