Alex Anthony Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team

She is the first USC women’s soccer player to earn Academic All-America honors.
USC forward Alex Anthony has broken ground on territory never treaded by a USC women's soccer player, named to the 2017 Academic All-America First Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Announced as an Academic All-District Team honoree along with teammate Nicole Molen last month, Anthony has advanced to the highest academic honor roll with her Academic All-America First Team pick.
A grad student pursuing a Masters in Public Policy with a certificate in Homeland Security at USC, Anthony helped the Trojans win the 2016 NCAA Championship in her first season on the roster. A graduate transfer from Maryland, Anthony held a 3.90 undergraduate GPA and now boasts a 3.66 GPA in her masters program at USC. In two years as a Trojan, Anthony has tallied 18 career goals — good to rank her No. 9 all-time in scoring at USC. Her seven career game-winning goals is the sixth best mark by a Trojan all-time. This past season, Anthony was the Trojans' top scorer with eight goals.
One of the strongest forwards in the collegiate game, Anthony also has shown great strength in the classroom. She finished her undergraduate degree in psychology at Maryland in three years before coming to USC as a redshirt junior in 2016 to begin her masters program in Public Policy. Since then she has been named to the 2017 Senior CLASS Second Team to go along with her Academic All-District First Team honors this season. While pursuing a certificate in Homeland Security at USC, Anthony has been conducting research at the Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE). She hopes to go on to law school and eventually work for the CIA or FBI.
