University Southern California Trojans
Trojan Town: Uchenna Nwosu
October 03, 2017 | Football, USC Ripsit Blog, Features
Despite living just over 20 minutes from USC's campus, senior linebacker Uchenna Nwosu didn't grow up dreaming of playing USC football.
At first, the Carson, Calif. native played soccer, much to the delight of his Nigerian parents. He also played basketball and flag football, vastly preferring the former. But he stayed close with his youth flag football coach, Lennon Trotter, who saw something in him from the young age of 12.
When Nwosu got to high school, Narbonne's football coach poached him from the basketball team, and the rest is history. Now in his final year at Troy, Nwosu is a captain and one of the most impressive defenders in the nation. His 8 passes broken up are more than any other non-defensive back in the country, and he's come up with huge plays all season, like a fumble recovery against Cal and an interception against Washington State.
With nothing but big games ahead for the Trojans, look for Nwosu to continue stepping up to the plate.
