Gore Leads Trojans At 2017 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships
October 27, 2017 | Women's Cross Country
Amber Gore led USC for the fifth time in five races this season and all four Trojan runners posted 6K personal-bests at the 2017 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships held on the Springfield Golf Course in Springfield, Ore. today (Oct. 27). USC did not figure in the team scoring, as only four runners completed the course due to an injury to junior Lauren Maurer.
Gore finished 79th overall with a time of 21:00.5. That beat her previous 6K best by 32 seconds, set at the Sacramento State West Preview Meet on Oct. 1, 2016. In all three seasons, the junior Gore has improved her finish at the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships.
USC's second finisher was sophomore Chloe Berry who had a PR of 21:55.8 to place 96th. It was Berry's first 6K race of the season and she improved 49 seconds over her previous best 6K run last season.
Freshman Jennifer Daly was the third Trojan to finish, placing 104th with a time of 23:16.1. It was her first career cross country 6K race.
Fellow freshman Sydney Tullai finished 106th with a 6K PR of 24.12.4. In her previous 6K race this season, she had a time of 24:23.5 at the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 16.
Maurer felt a "pop" in her foot while running and had to pull out of the race. A team needs to have five runners cross the finish line to figure in the team results.
