When Jake Olson executed a perfect snap on USC's final extra point attempt vs. Western Michigan, he inspired people not only across the country, but all over the world.
That's why the walk-on long snapper, who was diagnosed with retinal cancer as an infant and went completely blind at age 12, is up for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation's "Best Sporting Moment of the Year" award.
Laureus puts on the World Sports Awards each year to recognize not only athletic accomplishments in sport, but inspirational sports stories that change the world for the better.
Olson is one of 30 contestants for this year's "Best Sporting Moment of the Year" award and one of six candidates for the month of October. Each month from August to December, Laureus is releasing groups of six contestants at a time, and it's up to fans across the world to vote for their favorite story. The top vote-getter in each of the five months will go against each other in a later public vote before the winner is eventually announced at the 2018 Laureus World Sports Awards in Monte Carlo in February of next year.
