Trojan Wish: Trevor King
October 16, 2017 | Football, Trojan Outreach, USC Ripsit Blog, Features
On Saturday, USC's Trojan Outreach program hosted a special young man at the football game against Utah.
Seven-year-old Trevor King, whose eighth birthday is on Wednesday, got a tour of USC's athletic facilities with his family and grabbed lunch at USC's Cardinal and Gold tailgate before heading down to the field at the Coliseum to wait for the team to arrive.
Once the Trojans showed up to the stadium, Trevor got to meet USC long snapper Jake Olson. The meeting was inspirational for Trevor, who was born with detached retinas and has been blind since birth, because of all that Olson has accomplished since going blind at the age of 12.
Trevor's mother, Gabriela, said that Trevor had struggled to come to terms with his own blindness until meeting Olson, who explained that he didn't let retinoblastoma or blindness stop him from playing high school and college football and becoming a skilled golfer.
Trevor was also thrilled to meet and take photos with USC's mascot, Traveler. Trevor has taken horse back riding classes for four years as part of an equine therapy program, so he likes horses. Additionally, Trevor enjoyed meeting and taking photos with the USC Song Girls.
Trevor and his family then enjoyed an exciting game in which USC rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit to beat Utah, 28-27.
