Members of the USC Track & Field team are competing in four different meets this weekend, and senior thrower Tera Novy got the Trojans off to a superb start, breaking her own school record in the discus and achieving an Olympic qualifying A standard to finish second at the CSULA Twilight Meet in Los Angeles on Thursday. Competition will continue at the CSULA Twilight Meet as well as the Mt. SAC Relays, Pacific Coast Intercollegiate and the Beach Invitational all weekend.
Novy's first throw of the day was marked at 200-1 (61.00m) which broke her own school record by nearly three and a half feet and met the Olympic qualifying A standard of 61.00. But she came out even stronger in her third throw, launching the discus which an even better record of 200-5 (61.10m) to finish in second behind 2012 NCAA Champion Whitney Ashley.
Freshman Nathan Bullman also started off the weekend with a strong throwing performance, setting a personal record in the hammer throw at the Mt. SAC Relays with a mark of 191-4 (58.32m) in his first attempt.
