When the No. 1 USC women's water polo team jumped into the Uytengsu Aquatics Center pool on Friday afternoon, it had one goal in mind: beat the No. 6 Cal Bears. Thirty-two minutes later however, the Trojans had accomplished much more than that. For just the third time in program history, the Women of Troy finished the regular season with a perfect record, defeating Cal, 11-6, for their 21st victory this year.
The last time the Trojans went undefeated in regular season play was in 2006, and before that, USC had a perfect record in 2004. This year's squad made it to 21 in dominant form, outscoring opponents
264 to 91with junior Stephania Haralabidis leading the way with a team-leading 54 goals.
The Women of Troy's remarkable year is not finished yet however, as the group now turns its attention to the 2016 MPSF Tournament in which they hold the No. 1 seed. The Trojans will head straight to the semifinal round set for 2:30 p.m. on April 30 in Bakersfield.
