The Trojans defeated No. 5 Hawaii, 3-0, with three swift match victories from USC's top three pairs. First, Nicolette Martin and Allie Wheeler put USC on the board with a two-set victory at the No. 3 position. Sophie Bukovec and Alexa Strange followed suit, defeating their opponents in three sets to give the Women of Troy the commanding 2-0 lead. The All-American duo of Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes then clinched their team's 22nd consecutive win with a two-set victory, bringing the pair's season winning streak to an 36.Â
No surprise to most, the dynamic duo took home Pac-12 Pair of the Week honors for the third time this season after their performance in Honolulu.Â
With the regular season now over, the Trojans will host the first-ever Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Championships from April 28 to May 1. The championships will crown a pairs' winner as well as a team champion which will be awarded an automatic berth to the first-ever NCAA Championship tournament.
