Two weekends ago, Bruce Springsteen played the final show ever to be held at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, signaling the end of a 56-year era for the venue that hosted politicians, world champions, rockstars and more. From 1959 to 2006 the Sports Arena was home to USC men's basketball as well, and with its impending destruction to make way for LA's newest MLS team, it's time to pay homage to the historic landmark.
From the 1964 Democratic National Convention to the boxing matches of the 1984 Olympics to some of the most famous rock concerts ever performed in the city, the Sports Arena served as center stage for some of the biggest events to come to Los Angeles in the later half of the last century. USC basketball stars like Harold Miner and Paul Westphal played out their Trojan careers within its walls and the arena grew to become a major fixture in USC Athletics history.Â
