In February, USC long snapper Jake Olson, who lost his sight to a rare form of cancer called retinoblastoma, was named one of six finalists for the Rare Disease Champion Award. And one month later, he was honored with the award at the Maxwell Awards Gala after winning an online vote.
The Rare Disease Champion Award winner goes to a leader in college football that makes an impact on the rare disease community. This award recognizes Olson's impact on others lives and his hard work to inspire and educate others about the disease.
