Senior Kasia Wilk, freshman Kirsten Vose and juniors Chelsea Chenault and Anika Apostalon won the relay in 3:09.69, more than a second under the school record and just over a second off of the NCAA record set in 2015. It was just the second overall NCAA relay title in program history.Â
"The whole meet, and the year, the theme has been about the team," said head coach Dave Salo on Saturday. "We had some missteps on some individual events, but we never failed on any of the relays. The relays were awesome. That was the final piece of the whole team focus, coming together and winning it."
At the end of the four-day meet, USC counted eight All-Americans - Anika Apostalon (100y free, 200y free relay, 400y free relay, 800y free relay, 400y medley relay), Kirsten Vose (200y IM, 200y breast, 400y free relay, 800y free relay), Kasia Wilk (100y free relay, 200y free relay, 400y free relay, 800y free relay), Chelsea Chenault (400y free relay, 800y free relay), Riley Scott (400y medley relay), Kendyl Stewart (200y free relay, 400y medley relay), Evan Swenson (200y free relay) and Hannah Weiss (400y medley relay) - and four new program records.Â
