The No. 12 USC women's lacrosse team secured a dominating, 20-3, win over Saint Mary's College on Sunday for its seventh consecutive victory this season. The Women of Troy have now outscored opponents, 112-33, to start the year and are one of just three undefeated teams left in the country.
The win over the Gaels was USC's fourth double-digit victory this year and featured goals from 11 different Trojans including juniors Kylie Drexel and Drew Jackson who both scored hat tricks. The team effort also included 14 assists and 18 forced turnovers. It was fitting that junior Michaela Michael, the team-leader in goals this season, started the scoring for the Trojans on Sunday. And while Saint Mary's answered to tie the score early, by halftime, USC was up 13-2.
Sharing an undefeated record with just Cornell and Maryland, the Women of Troy are fast making their mark as one of college lacrosse's most talented teams. The Trojans are tied for third in scoring offense (averaging 15.4 goals per game), lead the nation in scoring defense (with an average of 5.6 goals allowed per game) and boast the sport's top scorer in Michael (averaging 4.4 goals per game).
Looking to keep their streak alive, USC next hosts Dartmouth on Wednesday at 2 p.m. PT. The game will be broadcast live on Pac-12 Networks.
